First stop with colleagues Beth Johnson and Tom Stock on a Washington Area Butterfly Club full-day field outing. This leg covers the High Knob Overlook and along Gambrill Park Road in Gambrill State Park and the adjacent Frederick Municipal Watershed forest. While temperatures had been in the 40s overnight, by the time we were in the field at 10 am we were in the 60s and would climb to 70s by the time we left at around noon. Light breeze, full sun. Nectar included fleabanes and blackberry, predominantly.
