Eastern Comma ascending into the tree canopy after the sun came out around 1 p.m., about 70 degrees.
My first butterfly of 2017, and 2—3 weeks ahead of the time I usually see my first butterfly of the year, typically a Cabbage White. [I might’ve been able to see one of the overwintering butterflies earlier this February, had I been able to take off a warm weekday afternoon from work!]
Also saw up to five species of moths this A.M. around Northeast, MD.
Whether leps or vegetation, this year is definitely progressing 2—4 weeks ahead of schedule!
